A colorful climbing species with long leaves that first form an upright tubular shape, then flare out and cascade over. Light green with bold brownish crossbands on all leaf surfaces and a grayish wash overall.
The inflorescence is on a tall scape and forms a 'tulip-like' head of bright reddish-orange bracts and yellow flowers in a capitate head. Showy in a hanging pot or basket, and with long stolons, makes a great tree climber. Very easy to cultivate, requires warmth. Not commonly seen.
