Here is a rare and beautiful plant. This plant came from Costa Rica by way of Chester Skotak, who rescued it from a construction site in San Jose, Costa Rica. It later bloomed and was identified as Bromelia hemisphaerica, native from Mexico to Costa Rica. Chester named the cultivar after his secretary.
It is a large grower that may look superficially like a pineapple, with many graceful albomarginated leaves. The inflorescence is nested in the center and the center flushes red in a brilliant but short lived show.
