A medium sized, stoloniferous Bromelia with inch-wide bronzy leaves bearing vicious hooked spines. The inflorescence is a scape with short branches bearing large bluish flowers, followed by orange fruit. The long, leaf-like scape bracts blush bright red. Native Bahia to Pernambuco in Northeastern Brazil and is typical of the caatinga biome. Our plants originated with a wild seed collection made by Rick and Carole Richtmyer of Houston.
