A rock dwelling (saxicolous) species from Parana, Brazil that is a near relative of Ae. recurvata. Narrow, spiny leaves in a rosette, lack the bulbous or bottle shape of recurvata but have a similar short inflorescence with light purple flowers. The leaves blush red at anthesis, as with recurvata. A fairly obscure species in cultivation, but a smaller grower deserving more universal interest.
