This is a reddish leaved form of the species that we found in Caripe, Venezuela back in 1999. A large growing form with an upright vase shape and a full inflorescence that has a pink rachis, and branches and blue flowers. We found this growing epiphytically in a wet forest at about 3,000 feet of altitude. Here it grows as the typical form and has no cultural problems.

Aechmea fendleri ‘red form’ purchase

As always, the plant arrived in excellent condition thanks to careful packing. Tropiflora is my go to nursery for bromeliads.
