An Ecuadorean Platyaechmea related to the chantinii group. The foliage is funnel-form and uniformly pale green, up to 24-30 inches tall. The striking inflorescence has whitish to yellow branches and orange scape bracts. A perfectly lovely species. This plant occurs in the Amazon basin and forms great colonies high on the exposed trunks of palm and other tall trees, often fifty feet off the ground on limbless trunks.
