A plant with a tubular rosette, closely allied to Aechmea disjuncta. Native to Atlantic Forest of Alagoas, N.E. Brazil where it forms stoloniferous clusters as an epiphyte. The upright rosette of few, strap-like leaves is glaucous-green with dark purple-brown banding, reminiscent of Aechmea fosteriana. The inflorescence forms on a slender scape with rose bracts. A tripinnate, capitate head bears green bracts and yellow flowers. A decorative novelty, well suited for mounting or hanging basket culture.
