A nice new miniature hybrid from Chester Skotak for 2023. The shape of the plant is upright with flaring leaves at the top. The color is a greenish bronze with cream colored variegation. The leaves are peppered with red and develops a lighter red colored veneer as the plant matures. The mature height is 6 to 8 inches tall.

I love the foilage on this plant; it's like the leaves can't decide what pattern to display, so they mix it all in. I also like the size - not too large.

Received quickly. Broms I ordered are good quality, and received in perfect shape.
I am very pleased with my plant. It arrived in good condition. I love the red coloration of the leaves, very beautiful !!
It’s early days. I soak all plants in distilled water for 24 hours to hydrate them rain water whe ever it’s available. Then I plant in moist media and wait till they get going.
My Pitciarnia obsession arrive with all the leaves curled in. I gave it a good watering and that didn’t help. I called Tropiflora and the woman told me to plant it in soil vs the orchid bark I planted it in. I did that and no change. See photo. I hope to get a new plant or a refund/ credit.

One of Steve Correale’s hybrids that we love and just had to name. We thought long and hard about a name and finally thought to name it for Steve’s late wife who passed away recently. Steve has inspired us with his Tillandsia hybrids and with being a great guy, an asset to the bromeliad society and a good friend to many. Steve was also a happily married man and he and his wife were together over sixty years. We figured that she deserved our thanks for helping Steve with his hobby and allowing us to enjoy his talents all these years. I asked Steve’s permission to name the plant after Bea and he said that he would be honored.Â
Two outstanding parents; streptophylla x chiapensis both lend their best characteristics to this cross. Silvery all over with a pinkish tint, bulbous based with a short scape with long silver branches and bracts that blush pinkish at anthesis. Broad leaves of heavy substance make this a heavy and substantial plant. Note that this plant is different from the same cross by Dimmitt named ‘Royal Rene’.

Rarely does such a special plant come along. This is a dramatically variegated form of Tillandsia riohondoensis, the Guatemalan plant known variously as 'Rio Hondo', cf. capitata, capitata ‘Peach,’ and other names, but is a spectacular and easy to cultivate plant. This amazing sport came about from a plant with a few variegated leaves. The next generation produced normal plants and one perfectly variegated specimen. To see what a typical blooming plant would look like; visit our product #144 to see a non-variegated plant in bloom.
Care of this species is easy, it is a warm grower with no special needs, best kept in bright indirect light, watered ‘normally’ or about once or twice a week and fed from time to time. The variegation in on every leaf, so this plant should produce 100% variegated offshoots and you can usually expect about five from a plant this size. A one of a kind prize!
