One of my favorite Aechmeas. The shape, color and heat/sun tolerance make this a standout. Mine color up best in Texas winter.

Great landscaping plant
These are wonderful for landscaping giving height, color and filling in those full sun areas. They seem to put out a lot pf pups - make a great addition to my bromeliad collection.
A deep red clone of this beautiful sun tolerant species. Medium sized, to about 20 inches when grown hard, but can get quite large if fed. A very stiff leaved plant in an upright funnelform rosette. Deep rusty red with silvery crossbanding, it is native to the sun-baked sandy coastal plain of Brazil’s Maca region in Rio de Janeiro state, it is rare in cultivation.

A color form of this large species that takes on glowing orange hues when grown in bright light. Native to Brazil’s restinga, a sandy coastal strip with sparse cover, consisting mainly of cacti, thorny scrub…and bromeliads!
A large grower unparalleled for landscape use in warm climates, may reach 4 feet in height, with a heavily branched panicle of orange berries. Large plants always on hand for pick up, and we are offering large offsets, up to 24 inches or more, for shipping.
A beautifully variegated cultivar of Aechmea blanchetiana, the result of an intraspecific crossing by Chester Skotak. It grows in the form of a typical Ae. blanchetiana, over three feet tall in a cluster of offsets, with three-inch-wide, stiff leaves, forming a funnelform rosette. The foliage is light green, does not tend to blush bronze or reddish, but has wide, bright cream-colored variegation. The variegation is bold and does not fade with age.
The inflorescence is typical of the species, tall, branched, orange with yellow flowers. A spectacular plant for landscape in shade to full sun. At this point, still a desirable collector item.
Stiffer, narrower leaves and a bright orange coloration in bright light typify this form. Collected by John Anderson and Wally Berg on one of their Brazil trips, John named it in honor of Wally after his passing. Popular as a landscape subject in bright, warm gardens.

A large growing species from the area between Rio and Sao Paulo Brazil, that excels in landscape in the Florida climate. Very close to the Neo. cruenta-johannis complex and is thought to be a possible natural hybrid swarm between johannis and marmorata but for now at least, it is considered a species. Spectacular in size, with a wide open rosette of leaves up to 4 inches wide, heavily spined and bearing red tips that extend well down the leaf. The rest of the plant is apple green with red mottling. There is no center flush at anthesis.
