This cultivar of Cryptanthus acaulis var. ruber is a small full round plant with 30+ leaves that attains a size of 8-inches in diameter.  The creamy coffee colored leaves, in the proper light blushes pink in the center, have a faint center ridge visible and are sparsely scaled near the leaf base.  The underside is fused in fine lineated stripes of scurf.

This is the type form of Deuterocohnia brevifolia, greener and slightly larger than the form chlorantha which is actually more commonly cultivated. This group of Deuterocohnias use to be known as Abromeitiella a name still used by many, especially in the succulent world. This interesting, miniature terrestrial bromeliad is found in Bolivia and Argentina and has neat, compact rosettes about the diameter of a U.S. quarter, with short, succulent, light green leaves ending in a sharp spine. In nature it grows on steep hillsides or rock faces in cool, arid regions, forming mounds of tens of thousands of plants. Adapts well to pot culture, forming pillow-like clusters. Likes plenty of water in warm weather, but prefers to be allowed to dry thoroughly after watering. Our clone of this plant came from a collection made in 1996 by Marjorie McNamera of Australia, in Northern Argentina.

A new unusual cultivar of nummularia from Thailand.  It has darker and smaller green leaves than the parent. The shape of the leaves is convex and are closely spaced and they grow very close to the stem.

Drimiopsis maculata is an evergreen geophyte found on forest floors and shaded stream banks in eastern southern Africa. Leaves are deeply lobed on slender banded petioles, with dark green spots and wavy margins. Flowers are in a small compact inflorescence. The buds are white and the flowers grey green. This plant flowers between September and April. Grow the bulbs in a well drained, but organic rich medium and keep it moist during the summer growing season. It does fine with year-round watering. The species is winter deciduous and can take light frost, but not a hard freeze. Plant in light shade to part sun. Freckles on leaves will be more colorful in summer.

A hybrid from Bill Baker. Compact growth from of glossy burgundy leaves that are recurved. Has distinct white marginal spines. The rosette is up to 8 inches across at maturity. Grows best in full sun.

This stunning large cross of Dyckia platyphylla x ‘Carlsbad‘ has many spiny arching leaves in a rosette to well over 18 inches. One of the most colorful of Dyckia hybrids, it has reddish/brown leaves in full sun or a deep burgundy color in lower light.

Large growing to 16 inches across. Glossy burgundy green with light scurfing. A rosette of broadly triangular leaves that taper to a sharp point. Marginal spines are stout and pronounced. Brows best in bright light to full sun.

A cultivar of a hybrid by Chan with only the seed parent being named: ‘Morning Star’. A neat, compact rosette of fairly stiff, dark silvery leaves that are about ¾ inch wide and taper to a point. The marginal spines are stout and serrate, white in color. 

A nice hybrid by Michael Kiehl. A select clone of Dyckia 'Arizona' x 'Heaven and Hell'. Silver green recurving leaves with noticeable hooked spines. Grows to a average of 8 to 10 inches across. Grows best in bright light. Make sure it gets water on a regular basis.

A large growing hybrid that came from Q-dyckia in Thailand. Wide dark green succulent recurving leaves with heavy scurfing and large spines. Mature size is 18 inches across. Grows best in bright light to full sun which will enhance the plant color.
