A very interesting and attractive red leaved plant from the area near Temascal, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. This is probably a new species or could be a true Til. capitata, as it strongly resembles that species from Cuba. We found this plant in 1995, growing on limestone outcrops, deep in the forest on very steep slopes, between 700 and 800 feet of altitude. In nature, the plant had draping leaves about 18 inches long, and grew in colonies on the rock surface, in deep shade. In cultivation, the plant has proven prolific, and has taken on a deep reddish coloration, while becoming much more compact.
