Tillandsias Review
I bought this and was very happy with the quality and assortment of plants I received. Tropiflora is a class operation, and I have ordered many plants from them.
The service is exceptional and so are the plants! I've been blessed with air plants for approximately 3 years; Tropiflora I discovered about 6 months ago and I couldn't be happier. I have ordered from them 4 times and have always been surprised by the quality and beauty of the plants and the excellent service.
Quality, quantity and variety were all great. I chose the 2 #, 1# free option and received about 15 different hybrids and species and a total of about 100 plants, many with offsets. Some were purchased for mounting on wood and cork as specimen plants, others for the trees in my yard and some as gifts and donations for the Caloosahatchee Bromeliad Society's Annual Auction in March and Birthday Party in April. I am struggling to put a name to each of them, but the photos and names you posted with the offering will be helpful. Thanks, Tropiflora for the great deal.
Sent three pounds of grower’s choice as a gift, and the recipient was beyond impressed, as was I when I saw the photos. A great value and beautiful plants. Highly recommended!
Wallisia cyanea
162
Commonly referred to as 'Pink Quill'. Native to Ecuador, but ubiquitous in collections across the globe. One of the finest natural species to be discovered, it has been in cultivation well over one hundred years, and many selected clones have been developed. The plant is sub-mesic, thriving potted in moist, open-shaded conditions.
Bright light turns the paddle-shaped inflorescence a deep and vivid pink. The large, deep purple flowers are highly fragrant with the scent of cloves or cinnamon. Red-striated green leaves. A must for all collections. Grow in bright shade and keep moist.
(formerly Tillandsia)
First purchase of this type of plant and it is in a bedroom under a grow light and misted 2-3 times a day and seems happy. Waiting for it to bloom
Perfect condition, bloom about halfway open, so I will get to enjoy the maximum show. Only $10 at the retail store. I don't have much luck with getting them to rebook, but I have 2 or 3 that are still otherwise doing great after probably 3-4 years, and they make lovely foliage in any case.
Wallisia cyanea variegated
1361
Formerly known as Tillandsia cyanea variegated. A once very rare form with beautifully white striped leaves. The inflorescence is the same as a the typical form, bright pink with large, fragrant purple flowers. Has been around for a while in some private collections, but is still not often seen for sale.
