A plant with a confused name. Seen variously as a Disocactus, Wittiocactus and Pseudorhipsalis, it is nonetheless a beautiful species. Native from Costa Rica to Peru in seasonally wet forests, it has flat, blade-like stems that branch laterally and hang under their own weight. Perhaps its most unique feature is the numerous tubular flowers which are purple, pink and blue. This blue represents the only occurrence of this flower color in the Cactaceae. Though rumored to be difficult, we find it easy to cultivate and grow it profusely from in-house produced seed.
