This is a blast from the past, a nice Vriesea hybrid made by Herb Hill to honor Hazel Quilhot, a local bromeliad celebrity back in the ‘70s and ‘80s. The reported cross is a cultivar of ('Vigeri' x 'Cardinalis') x ensiformis 'Correia-Araujoi'. A medium sized rosette of discolor leaves, green above, reddish purple below to about 30 inches across. A large inflorescence is blood red with yellow flowers, nicely branched in candelabra fashion. Long lasting color.
