A small growing Puya species from the state of Amazonas, Venezuela, in the vicinity of Yutaje. Almost Pitcairnia-like in habit, a bulbous base with narrow, silver, arching leaves with very spiny margins that forms an 18 inch tall, upright rosette. The inflorescence is a simple spike with a cluster of pale yellowish flowers. Native to warm areas of the Orinoco basin, where it grows on exposed rock inselbergs. Culture as with a Pitcairnia in loamy, well draining soil, keeping it slightly moist, never wet.
