The base coloration is glossy apple green, with frequent flecks of reddish pigmentation and some concentric banding. The leaves have fine spines and are margined with a 3/8 inch wide ivory albomargination, which tints reddish at anthesis and in bright light. The center flush at anthesis is burgundy-red and extends nearly to the tips of the central leaf whorl.
