A rugged dweller of dry, hot sand in the restinga habitat near Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. A rosette to about 24 inches tall with broad, tough leaves that are green with gray trichomes and black, apiculate tips. The inflorescence is an erect scape with a tight cluster of pale green to whitish strobilate branches and white flowers.
