A stunningly marked, darker colored form of this beautiful species. As the typical form, it has an upright, flaring, tubular shape. The leaves are glabrous, very hard and plastic-like with stout, moderate marginal spines. The color is very nice, dark bands of chestnut-brown to dark chocolate over light green, with a slight rose tint in good light.
The inflorescence is a tulip-shaped head on a tall scape. The habit is stoloniferous, and it will grow equally well mounted as potted.
