A miniature form of the species that matures at only about 10 inches across or less! It forms a tight, flat rosette with sharply pointed green leaves. Known to be a reluctant bloomer, but still nice.
The inflorescence is like the typical form, a short stout scape with red bracts and bristly, cone-shaped head with blue flowers. In nature it is an epiphyte or terrestrial and occurs from Sao Paulo to Santa Catarina, Brazil. This is a notably cold hardy species to below freezing, and thrives in shade to full sun. A nice compact species, smallest form of three, and compact enough to fit in any collection.
