Neoregelia laevis (BAB 235)

A somewhat variable species that is not widely cultivated, but definitely has merit. A medium sized plant that can reach about 24 inches across with inch and a half wide leaves that bear deep purple, apiculate tips, rimmed in pink. The color is dependent on light intensity, but in bright shade, it is yellowish and pinkish at the same time, rather unusual.
This is a clone collected in Brazil by Wally Berg and John Anderson and bears their code of (BAB 235).

A small growing hybrid by Michael Kiehl. Burgundy red with green spots and blotches. Matures at 7 inches tall. Offsets are produced on long stolons. Looks best in a hanging pot or mounted.
