We are especially proud of this plant, a species we are responsible for introducing to cultivation. A milkweed native to Venezuela, it forms a massive caudex, and produces a deciduous vine with deep-green oblong leaves and clusters of small greenish flowers. The caudex grows fat and interesting, with tan bark.
We first found this plant growing in rocky soil at the base of cliffs on the old road to Puerto Cabello in Carabobo State where it was often growing atop the ground with the caudex completely exposed. We have subsequently found this plant to be widespread along the Caribbean coast of the Andes.
