A spectacular large species that is endemic to the walls of the Sumidero Canyon above the Rio Grijalva in Chiapas, Mexico. This large species is easy to see on the canyon walls with a rosette reaching over three feet. The inflorescence is pendant, with long branches and pink in color, also quite noticeable. Therefore, it is rather stunning that this species collected by Rutschmann was only described by Rauh in 1985. The photos accompanying this were taken in habitat.
