Quite a distinct species, previously known as singularis, on account of its growing as a single cylindric ‘stick’ when totally mature. In the younger stages, it grows with flattish thick leaves with beautiful glossy petroleum-green color and grayish-green cross-banding. This plant grows gradually into the mature stages in successive tries, losing its cross-banding, becoming dull and rough in texture. If the juvenile stage is desired, the plant should be divided, on the other hand if the mature stage is desired, the plant should be re-potted successively into larger pots. This plant can achieve more than 5ft in cultivation, although reports of plants in habitat give it a much taller dimension. From Kenya and Tanzania.
