A widepread species of ‘Bird’s Nest Fern’ that occurs naturally throughout much of Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region. Normally an epiphyte or lithophyte in nature, it grows equally well in a moist, well drained media or in a garden with good soil drainage. It’s classic Bird’s Nest shape is actually useful in nature as a ‘trash basket’ to catch leaves and other fallen debris so that nutrients may be absorbed. A desirable plant with many uses from landscape to potted and even terrariums when small. Growing it as an epiphyte is a good way to see this plant as it would appear in it natural habitat.
