A cultivar of (intermedia x streptophylla) by Mark Dimmitt. A bizarrely delightful plant with uniquely curling leaves and a colorful inflorescence. Taking the best characteristics of both parents, it has wide, strap-like, extremely curling leaves, a bulbous shape and a long inflorescence with many curly scape bracts.
It will often offset from the inflorescence as does the intermedia parent and can form a chain of oddly twisting offspring. A choice plant for any Tillandsia lover and one of especially easy care. Grow bright and breezy and feed often for great fast growth.
My order just arrived. I was pleasantly surprised how big this Curly Slim was- almost the size of a garden trowel!
BOTH of the hard leaf tillandsia are about to flower.Plus, all the plants are just as healthy as can be.
Very pleased, 😃Beth

A robust form of this variable Venezuelan species. The cultivar name ‘Marron’ means brown in Spanish, but we do not see any brown in this plant. Perhaps it had a brownish appearance in nature. We have observed this plant at several locations in habitat and know that the plants vary quite a lot.
A cliff dweller that grows on rocks in full sun, in cultivation it will form a large cluster even to several feet across with time. Very nice, short, needle thin leaves that tint reddish in bright light and at anthesis. Flowers are blood red.

A hybrid of arequitae x stricta. A robust cross forming a very leafy, silvery-green rosette with a tall, unbranched inflorescence. The inflorescence has subtle pale peach bracts and large light blue flowers. A strong grower that likes bright light and airy conditions.

A very orange-blushing clone of Tillandsia funckiana from the collection of Herb Hill. We don’t know much else about it but as with all T. funckiana, it’s a species from Venezuela that grows on bare rock on exposed cliffs. The blooms are brilliant crimson and appear in winter. It, like all other T. funckiana, forms large clusters over time. A superb clone.
Excited to see these small sprigs mature and grow. Looks like an amazing plant.

This is a form of this lithophytic species from Venezuela that grows to nearly 10 inches tall, or at least generally larger than most other clones. Other than that it is typical, needle like ¾ inch long leaves on a long stem, silvery green, tinting red in good light and blushing deep red at the crown near anthesis. Flaring, tubular flowers are bright red.

A nice hybrid by Jim Irvin that unfortunately he never named nor registered. Using two South American species native to warm to hot arid regions. Tillandsia babuagrandensis is a species with a simple inflorescence of pinkish red from Peru in the region of Bagua Grande in the state of Amazonas and the didisticha is a handsome species from Bolivia and Argentina with a branched pink inflorescence.
The cross has many short, stiff, pointed leaves with a coating of silver trichomes. The inflorescence is a tall spike with on or two upright branches, red with silver trichomes giving it a pinkish coloration. Easy to grow, pups well and does best in bright light, mounted.

A stunning hybrid of (pseudobaileyi x streptophylla) by Robert Spivey that is a perfect balance of the two parents. It has clean lines with a bulbous base and upright terete foliage that is slightly wavy and silvery gray. The inflorescence is erect with several branches, slightly exceeding the foliage. The scape and branches are bright pink becoming silvery white. A choice hybrid and easy to grow.

A real oddity. Showing characteristics of both parents, the influence of duratii is obviously stronger. A caulescent plant, with narrow, succulent silvery leaves like duratii, but leafier and more of a rosette shape like stricta.

An interesting species from Bahia, Brazil where it grows on exposed rock. Upright growing with narrow, 8 inch long leaves on a caulescent stem. The inflorescence is an erect spike, slightly taller than the foliage, terminating with a cluster of pink bracts and white flowers. A mature plant in bloom can reach 16 inches tall and 8 inches wide. Our plant is decended directly from the type collection by Elton Leme.

A truly magnificent hybrid by John Arden. A cultivar of (rothii x fasciculata ‘Magnifica’), a perfect combination that produced a robust, leafy, gracefully shaped and spectacularly blooming hybrid. The leaves are channeled, gracefully arching and recurving (much like the rothii parent) and somewhat glabrous green, but dusted with a slight coating of trichomes.
The inflorescence is nothing short of spectacular; a sturdy rachis rising well above the foliage with long, narrow, leaf-like bracts, green but with red sheaths and about eight thick, digitate branches that are bright yellow on the upper half and bright red on the lower. Really a pretty plant and very long lasting in bloom.

This is a giant form of Tillandsia pruinosa from Colombia. It is like the smaller or regular forms except that it is larger and does not color up at anthesis as some forms do. It grows to nearly 12 inches tall with a thick base. It might resemble a slightly more slender Tillandsia seleriana due to its size but is a pruinosa for sure. Up right leaves and a bulbous base, all covered with heavy trichomes. Nice.

Bill Timm’s hybrid of Tillandsia ionantha ‘Druid’ x ionantha v. vanhyningii, looks pretty much like a large vanhyningii. If this plant had turned out with a yellow blush instead of red, more like the ‘Druid’ parent, then this would have been a show stopper. But alas it isn’t yellow, but it is still a very nice, compact and colorful plant as you can see by the photo.
