TERRARIUM
Tillandsia brachycaulos
129
This species of Mexican and Central American forms a 6 inch open rosette of gray-green leaves which flush vivid red when in bloom. Flowers are blue. A lovely, easy to grow, all-time-favorite. An easy growing, sub-mesic plant that grows well when mounted and kept in moderate light and humidity.
Tillandsia ionantha v. vanhyningii
221
A rare caulescent species from Sumidero Canyon in Chiapas, Mexico, where it covers the canyon walls in some places, by the thousands. Tillandsia ionantha v. vanhyningii has short thick leaves on a 3 to 6 inch stem and blushes a peach color when in bloom and forms large cascading clusters. The plant grows with a long stem that forms many adventitious offsets which can be removed and grown or left to form a large cluster. Very easy to grow, bright and airy.
Yes,the velvety texture and pink hues along with its hardiness and ease of maintainence has charmed me fully, and allthough my wife also has pink hues and is fairly hardy, Tillandsia ionantha v.vanhyning never yells at me or tries to throw out my odiferous Lazy Boy comfort lounger, all-in-all for psychological agreeabilty i will take Tillandsia ionantha v. vanhyning over my wife any day...
Excellent! Thanks much.

Assorted Terrarium Bromeliad Offsets
ATBO
*NEW PACKAGE SIZES & AVAILABILITY!
Our terrarium bromeliad offset collections are chosen from small and miniature plants with a preponderance of Neoregelia species and hybrids. We may include plants from other genera, but all are of a smaller size that will work in most terrariums. Other criteria considered are suitability to average terrarium light and humidity, smaller spines to protect fragile animals and water holding capability and leaf axils suitable to accommodate frogs, at least in some selections.
We do not include Cryptanthus, atmospheric Tillandsias, or any terrestrial bromeliads. A good assortment is given, but there will be duplication.
Depending on the number of plants ordered, we will include from one to five of each variety and on some larger orders, up to ten of a variety. At least one of each variety will be labeled, and bundled with others of the same type. We can offer some choice as to overall size, etc., but, no choices can be given regarding variety. An exception can be made, only if a certain variety is not acceptable to you, then you can request that we do not include them.
All plants will be well grown, healthy and free of pesticides. However, since we are regulated by the state, some pesticides are occasionally used. We do not ship freshly treated plants in terrarium orders, but we would rather see you take the precaution of rinsing your plants with clean water prior to installing them in the terrarium environment.
Neoregelia 'Zoe'
3024
This early Skotak hybrid is a cultivar of ‘Fireball’ x ?. Unreported parentage. A small beauty almost the same size and shape of the ‘Fireball’ parent, with the same stoloniferous habit. A nicely variegated plant with reddish leaves in good light and light white to pinkish variegation.
The variegation is in the form of multiple thin stripes or lineations up the center of each leaf. It is a great plant for hanging baskets, for mounting and for use in terrariums.
Vriesea saundersii
441
A Brazilian native with wide, thick, leathery leaves in a 15 inch, recurving rosette. An unusual gray-blue color, speckled with tiny red dots and bearing an interesting, branched, yellow inflorescence produced in winter make this an attractive species. In spite of the gray, thick leaves, it is a shade grower in nature, living on granite rock cliff faces inside the mountainous Tijuca forest of Rio de Janeiro. A slow grower, excellent for terrariums when small.
LOVE IT!
This arrived yesterday to New England in perfect shape. It is one of the most beautiful bromeliads I have ever seen.
Very unusual, can’t wait to see it bloom!
My primary regret is that it came with no professional instructions.
My Vriesea saundersii arrived in perfect condition, even in mid April in the Midwest where the weather can be iffy and cold and shipping through mail could be hazardous. But it came packed gently along with a Tillandsia leiboldiana 'Mora', each wrapped up and in a thermal lined box and two heat packs. It's a beautiful plant. I can't wait to mount it. Or maybe find the right pot? Decisions..
