The cherry on top of the Pachypodium sundae! In other words, the most sought of the generally interesting Pachypodiums, because of its miniature size, wonderful shape and rarity. A true jewel native to central Madagascar, it is a compact species growing in a globular shape, rather without a trunk, but sort of an ever-increasing blob. The ‘heads’ or branches, are incorporated into the caudex, and show only by tufts of leaves and flowers in season. The skin is spiny and silver and when in leaf, is quite attractive too. The flowers are borne on short peduncles and are bright yellow.
