Often called the ‘Bamboo Cycad’ because its leaves resemble bamboo with its upright growth and paired, narrow leaflets oppositely arranged on the slender petiole. One of the most decorative of the Ceratozamias, it is also one of the easiest to grow and hardiest, withstanding light freezes without damage. Native to North Eastern Mexico in the states of Veracruz and San Luis Potosi where it lives in forested, rocky, mountain slopes in shade and in well drained soils. A most desirable species.
