This is a mystery plant of unknown parentage by an unknown hybridizer.  Given that though, it is a wonderful Cryptanthus to have in your collection.  It has 10+ 1.75 inch wide lanceolate leaves forming a medium-large plant to 18-inch diameter with an open round shape.  The light golden brown leaves are marked with scurf heaviest towards the base and radiating towards the tips with undefined light barring that disappears towards the tips.  The leaves slightly twist revealing the medium dense scurf on the underside.

 An old hybrid of unknown origin and parentage.  A medium-large plant maturing to 18-inches in diameter barred in strange patterns of silver over dark purple-black with undulating leaf edges and recurved leaf tips.

There aren't many hybrids made with the former Cryptanthus warasii, but this one is a neat hybrid by Nat DeLeon.  The plant has silver leaves that are softer than the warasii with white flowers.

This Stephen Hoppin hybrid is a cultivar of capitatus x ‘Richard Lum’ having 18+ long lanceolate leaves forming an extra-large very full upright rosette plant to 24″ in diameter.  The densely serrated, highly glossy leaves are mottled and striated with dark forest green, red, and rust that reddens further in bright light with dark edges.  The undersides of the leaves are covered in a medium dense white scurf.

This Lisa Vinzant hybrid is a cultivar of ‘Medusa’ x ‘Lirico’ having 25+ lanceolate leaves forming a medium tall upright full round plant to 12″ in diameter.  The densely serrated, narrow leaves are light green margined with dark green and tones of red at the leaf base.  In strong light, the plant flushes red with more enhanced marbling covered entirely with white scurf and some random barring.

This Harvey Kendall hybrid of unknown parentage was produced by Harvey and given to Ed Edmiston to grow out and see what became of it.  Harvey not having registered this plant, Ed named in honor of Harvey upon his death.  With 9+ lanceolate leaves, the overall color of milk-chocolate or coffee is seen, but upon closer inspection the leaves have a red-brown to wine colored mid rib and green-brown to bronze margins.  The plant matures to 18-inches in diameter with an open round form.  The leaf reverse is covered in a medium dense silver-white scurf with zipper indentations from the forming leaves below.

This Ed Edmiston hybrid, a cultivar of 'Black Magic' x bromelioides (red form), matures to a flattish rosette to 12-inches in diameter.  Foliage base color mid-brown with some greenish mottling and random scurf throughout.
