A small growing novelty formerly known as Scilla crispa, from the northernmost province of South Africa; Limpopo, which borders Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Native to open, arid grasslands especially on exposed rocky outcrops. The species is quite tiny, mature at only a few inches at most with narrow, “crisped” or extremely wavy leaf margins. The bulb is naturally below grade but it is strongly recommended to elevate it above ground when repotting to avoid rot in the dormant season. The flowers, borne on a short scape, are purplish.
