This plant has not yet been published but has been in cultivation for a while under the name of Tillandsia cocoensis.
In correspondence with Eric Gouda he says that this plant is most likely a form of T. tenuifolia and will likely be published as T. tenuifolia var. cocoensis by Renate Ehlers, hopefully in the near future. It was discovered growing on the cliffs of Morro do Coco in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil where it forms mats of plants with procumbent stems and stiff, silvery leaves. The flowers are slightly violet-white, borne on a short red scape with bright red bracts.
A cute and easy to grow species that blooms faithfully. Our plants came originally from the collection of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens with the accession number of SEL91-0099A.

An attractive hybrid of (ionantha x chiapensis) by John Arden. As with most ionantha hybrids, it shows very strong characteristics of that species. A very leafy open rosette to about 8 or 10 inches tall with a pinkish blush to the scurfy, silvery leaves. The inflorescence is very colorful, a cluster of bright red branches nested deep in the center, with large, tubular, inky-blue flowers. Very pretty and easy to grow. Likes to be on the dry side.

An interesting little shrub-like, caudiciform tree from Oaxaca, Mexico with a thickly swollen trunk and tan to reddish peeling bark. The dense branches have small obovate, deciduous leaves and bear tiny, aromatic fruits. Great for bonsai work. The leaves may turn bright colors if exposed to cool temps in the fall of the year.
Tropiflora always has interesting and healthy plants, one of my favorite places!

A jungle-dwelling species with a vase shape, heavy spines and recurving leaves. The small size and very stoloniferous habit makes this plant a good subject for hanging basket culture. Native from Amazonian Ecuador to Peru, it forms very large colonies on the upper trunks and branches of rainforest trees.
Most interesting plant. Now we have two species- H. myrmecophilia already in collection. Arrived in great shape!

NEW TROPIFLORA RELEASE FROM SKOTAK (2023)
A small growing hybrid from Chester Skotak. Light green leaves with wide white variegation. Blushes bright red at anthesis. Grows to 10 inches across and 8 inches tall. Grows best in bright filtered light.
A three inch ball of silvery needles with a bright orange, six inch bloom spike. That about sums up this beautiful Mexican miniature Tillandsia from southwest Mexico. Native to medium altitudes in semi-arid, deciduous forests, this plants loves bright light and breezy conditions. Ageotropic, it can grow in any direction and is often found growing upside down in nature. This species used to be quite common in the trade, but when Mexico closed down to collecting some years back, only captive-bred plants are available and this is not noted to be a fast grower. Easy to cultivate, best mounted.
